Our achievements

In October 2015 Opoka’s work was noticed by the Domestic Violence & Abuse Service Manager in Dorset, and in 2017 became funded and offered the opportunity to work with the Council in Poole.

In November 2015, we became a member of the Women's Aid Federation in England and Wales.

In 2014 we received a match funded grant of £2500 from the Police & Crime Commisioners Community Action Fund to assist with office, telephone helpline and specialist volunteer expenses, supervision and training.

In March 2016, the Avon & Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner Ms Sue Mountstevens visited Opoka’s Service.

In October 2016, Opoka was included in the Bristol NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (Domestic Abuse Policy).

In October 2016 Opoka received the award first place in the category of "Social Work" by the Polish Business network. The same award and statuette were given by Polish Prince Jan Żyliński himself! .

In December 2016, The Crime Reduction Manager Safer Bristol Partnership and Bristol City Council included Opoka in the application for Government Funding to the DCLG (Department for Communities & Local Government).

In February 2017 OPOKA received the great news that DCLG funds were allocated to OPOKA from both Council’s, Poole and Bristol!

In March 2017, Polish Women Networking Group "SILACZKI" organised a fundraising event and managed to collect in just 5 hours a sum of £1080 and donated it to OPOKA, Thank you very much SILACZKI!!!

In May 2017 OPOKA celebrated 5th Anniversary!!! On that day as well, OPOKA hosted the Mayor of Bristol Marvin Reese and his Cabinet. The Mayor of Bristol personally handed to our Volunteers Certificates of Appreciation.

In May 2017, we gained our first Chief Ambassador- Mrs Renata Durda, she is the head of the "Blue Line" - the Polish National Service for Victims of Domestic Violence and the Institute of Health Psychology in Poland. After that OPOKA gained another two Ambassadors, ladies: Mrs Monika Walsh-Miss Ireland and Polish Actress Ms Marta Klubowicz!

In June 2017, OPOKA received its first Government Funding in 5 years!
